OSCE Mission to Serbia will continue to support the activities of Women’s Parliamentary Network

Members of WPN spoke today with the representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia about the support to the Network’s activities in the new convocation of the National Assembly. Fully expecting that the WPN would continue with its activities on women’s empowerment once the new convocation of the National Assembly was formed, the representatives of the OSCE Mission expressed their willingness to continue the cooperation and prepare new proposals for new woman MPs.

Meeting between Women’s Parliamentary Network, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team and Director of the European Gender Equality Institute

Today, in the National Assembly Building, the representatives of WPN had a meeting with the representatives of the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team and Virginija Langbakk, Director of the European Gender Equality Institute. The meeting was used as an opportunity to present the Gender Equality Index – gender equality measurement in Serbia in 2014. Gender Equality Index was designed by the European Gender Equality Institute, in order to allow a comprehensive measurement of gender equality, and it was being conducted in line with the EU policy context, which Serbia aims to align with during the accession process. The European Institute for Gender Equality updated the Gender Equality Index every two years, and in 2015, it launched a new version. The survey was implemented in the areas of labour, money, knowledge, time, power, health, violence, and crosscutting inequality.

Meeting between members of WPN and representatives of gender-sensitive budgeting units from seven municipalities in Serbia

On Wednesday, December 23rd 2015, members of WPN had a meeting with representatives of gender-sensitive budgeting units from seven municipalities in Serbia, in order to discuss the good practice examples of municipal budget initiatives. In her opening word, the Coordinator of WPN Vera Paunović reminded the participants that gender-sensitive budgeting had become an integral part of budget for 2016 thanks to the Law on Budgetary System. She underlined that she saw this as a great success of all women MPs in our Parliament.
