Women’s Parliamentary Network had a meeting with Incest Trauma Centre – Belgrade, to discuss the initiative submitted by the Incest Trauma Centre. This initiative consisted of the proposal to have the National Assembly monitor the implementation of legislative measures for the prevention of re-traumatisation of children survivors of sexual violence.

In the National Assembly Building, WPN had a meeting with the representatives of the Trade Union of Nurses and Paramedics of Serbia. The topic of the meeting were frequent physical assaults against medical professionals in healthcare institutions.
Meeting between Women’s Parliamentary Network, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team and Director of the European Gender Equality Institute

Today, in the National Assembly Building, the representatives of WPN had a meeting with the representatives of the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Team and Virginija Langbakk, Director of the European Gender Equality Institute. The meeting was used as an opportunity to present the Gender Equality Index – gender equality measurement in Serbia in 2014. Gender Equality Index was designed by the European Gender Equality Institute, in order to allow a comprehensive measurement of gender equality, and it was being conducted in line with the EU policy context, which Serbia aims to align with during the accession process. The European Institute for Gender Equality updated the Gender Equality Index every two years, and in 2015, it launched a new version. The survey was implemented in the areas of labour, money, knowledge, time, power, health, violence, and crosscutting inequality.

At its first irregular session of 2016, the National Assembly of Republic of Serbia adopted the amendments to the proposal of the Law on Police and the proposal of the Law of Public Peace and Order, submitted by Dubravka Filipovski and Stefana Miladinović.
Meeting between members of WPN and representatives of gender-sensitive budgeting units from seven municipalities in Serbia

On Wednesday, December 23rd 2015, members of WPN had a meeting with representatives of gender-sensitive budgeting units from seven municipalities in Serbia, in order to discuss the good practice examples of municipal budget initiatives. In her opening word, the Coordinator of WPN Vera Paunović reminded the participants that gender-sensitive budgeting had become an integral part of budget for 2016 thanks to the Law on Budgetary System. She underlined that she saw this as a great success of all women MPs in our Parliament.
Presentation of findings of the GLOBAL Media Monitoring Project on the position of women in the media

In cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Serbia, WPN organised the round table called “Women in the Media” in the National Assembly Building. The round table served as a platform to present the findings of the survey on the position of women in media called “Who Makes the News”, conducted within the GLOBAL Media Monitoring Project in 2015.
Amendment leading to more funds for agricultural incentives

The Ministry of Finance accepted the amendment submitted by WPN to the proposed budget for the upcoming year. This amendment will allow more funds for incentives to those farmers who dealt with the processing of fruit, vegetables, dairy products, meat and other activities. This was stated by the Minister of Finance Dušan Vujović at the session of the National Assembly of Serbia.
Meeting of Coordinators of Women’s Parliamentary Network

On Monday, December 7th, the Coordinators of WPN met in the National Assembly Building in order to discuss the proposed amendments to the proposal of the Law on Amending the Law on Budgetary System.
