MPs Filipovski and Obradovic at World Bank Conference in Washington

MPs Dubravka Filipovski and Marija Obradovic at took part in the World Bank Conference in Washington, 7- 12 October 2014, dedicated to global economy issues, youth employment, gender equality, climatic and energy changes in the world.

At the WIP (Women in Parliament) panel, MPs Filipovski and Obradovic presented the activities, results and plans of the Serbian Women’s Parliamentary Network. They also actively participated in the workshops on the impact the economic empowerment of women has on strengthening fragile transitional societies.

The coordinators of the Women’s Parliamentary Network, Filipovski and Obradovic, announced a big regional conference planned for February 2015, which is to gather women MPs from South-East European countries and allow them to network, exchange experiences and strengthen their capacities. The WIP team agreed to send a delegation to the upcoming February conference in Serbia.

“Women in Parliament” was set up as a network of European women parliamentarians, but today it gathers women MPs from around the world. The founders of the network and MEPs, Silvana Koch Mehrin and Zita Gurmai, emphasized the importance of the Women’s Parliamentary Network in Serbia, stressing that by taking part in the gathering in Serbia they wish to show their strong support for the Serbian women parliamentarians’ networking initiative for influential women in the region.
